Heating Services

At Snell Heating we offer a range of services including water treatment, boilers, underfloor heating, hot water servicing and maintenance.

System Design

Central heating design is a critical aspect of modern building infrastructure, ensuring optimal comfort and energy efficiency. As demand for sustainable and effective heating solutions grows, the importance of a well-conceived central heating system cannot be overstated.

A properly designed system not only provides consistent warmth but also significantly reduces energy consumption and operational costs. By understanding the principles and components involved, engineers and designers can create systems that are both highly functional and environmentally friendly. We have undergone award-winning training in heating design and installation. Every system we see has differences. Our experience in design and installation ensures that we are able to offer the best possible solutions for your requirements.

Water Treatment

DID YOU KNOW? that just 1mm of scale can reduce an appliance efficiency by 10% and that 85% of breakdowns are as a result of incorrect water treatment.

Heating water filled to VDI 2035 standards. No Chemicals…Just Simple Chemistry

VDI 2035 is the German standard for the prevention of harmful substances such as scale and corrosion in heating systems, which can impede heat transfer and reduce system performance.

High conductivity water in a heating system leads to corrosion, which presents itself as Sludge formation (magnetite). Sludge is a black substance in the central heating pipes made up of dissolved and rusted metal.

If you have demineralised water, there’s no salts or metals in it to conduct the electrons, therefore, it doesn’t conduct, and you minimise galvanic corrosion.

Scaling is another problem for heating – A hard water area is fertile ground for scale. Each time your boiler heats water, magnesium ions and calcium carbonate form deposits.  Bit by bit, create limescale clumps in your boiler. Scale is typically found in boilers, taps, pipes, radiators and fittings.  Such as the inner surfaces of heating elements.

Steps taken to prevent Corrosion and Scaling –

  • Analyse the water
Clean the system (unless its new)
  • Demineralisation using a VDI filling station
  • Regulate / Top up
  • Re-analyse the water

Gas Boilers

There is a huge array of boiler brands and models available on the market and it can all get a little confusing. We’re here to make that simple and like our heat pumps we only install the most advanced and efficient products available.

Our premium boiler is Viessman Vitodens. Viessmann offer state-of-the-art heating systems and the most efficient boiler on the UK market with low emissions and simple operation. Future-proof, durable and digital.

Our lower cost boiler is Glowworm Energy. An ultra reliable boiler which is easy to install, high efficiency and excellent quality.

Underfloor heating – What are the advantages of Underfloor heating –

  • Better heat distribution, efficiency and comfort
  • Your choice of a heating system determines the way heat is distributed in your home. Underfloor Heating produces radiant heat which makes you feel warm and comfortable.
  • Traditional Convection Radiator Heating Systems cause substantial amounts of constantly rising and falling air, creating drafts and dust circulation.
  • Underfloor Heating also gives the same heat output as a radiator system at a lower temperature, while using 15% to 20% less energy. This makes Underfloor Heating more efficient and ends up being cheaper to run.
  • Radiant floor heating distributes even heat where it is needed, which means there are no cold spots, it reduces the risk of overheating the body and it is as close as you can get to the ideal heating system for your home.
  • Underfloor Heating is also safer for children and pets because there are no exposed heating elements or radiators. Because the floor surface stays at a comfortable temperature with Underfloor Heating, it makes it ideal for babies trying to find their feet, and it also makes it perfect for pets with aches, pains, or joint problems.
